Lokva Rogoznica is a small village about 8 km distant fro the old buccaneer stronghold of Omiš. It is located beneath the mountain of Mosor along the Adriatic highway on the route to Makarska. The place has been settled since 1231, as recorder in the municipal statutes written in Latin on 5th of April 1235. The village is famous for its beautiful pebble and sandy beaches and it offers all the necessary facilities for quiet family vacation. Close to the private apartments, rooms and camps there are several restaurants, stores, exchange offices and a post office. For those interested in active nightlife there is Split or Makarska nearby. Each year in August Fishermen nights are being organized. It is a famous local event with plenty of entertainment for everyone. The heart of the town still loves in the rich history, made from ancient times to the present, which is why the historical core with Dicletians Palace is included in the World Heritage List under UNESCO protection. It is a tourism destinatin that cannot be bypassed by those who happen to be in the wider surrounding area of this oldest, and yet eternally young town.
